Welcome to the Parks and Recreation News section! We're happy to keep you informed about our community's  youth, adult and senior programs. Our youth programs focus on fostering creativity, teamwork, and physical fitness through various activities such as sports leagues, clinics, art and crafts classes and more. 

For our adult and senior community, we offer a range of programs designed to promote health, wellness, and social interaction. From fitness classes tailored for different levels to arts and crafts workshops and social gatherings, there’s something for everyone. We believe that staying active and connected is essential at any age, and our programs are here to support that.

We will also keep you updated on our races series and special events.

Presidents' Day

In observance of Presidents Day, City Hall and the Magnolia Center will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025. The Recreation Center and Ice Arena will be open. LB Buses will run on a Holiday Schedule. There will be NO regular Residential Sanitation pickup.

Group Swim Lesson Registration

Group Swim Lesson Registration for Long Beach School District Residents begins on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Registration for the general public opens on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Classes are filled on a first come-first-serve basis. Click here for an application or more information.

Snowflake Race Winners

The City of Long Beach Department of Parks & Recreation Annual Snowflake 4-Mile Race was held this past Saturday! Under crisp, sunny skies, our community came together to celebrate fitness and fun. A huge congratulations to our top finishers: Timothy Miley, who crossed the finish line first among the men with a blazing time of 21:58, and Jacqueline Tierney of Massapequa, leading the women with an impressive 25:27.  A special thank you to our Police and Fire Departments for ensuring the safety of all our participants. Snowflake 4 Mile Race This Saturday

The Department of Parks and Recreation 2025 4-Mile Snowflake Race in memory of Joseph F. Farrell takes place this Saturday, February 1ss at 9:00am. The fee for the race is $35.00 for those who pre-register by January 20th at 4:00pm and the day of race registration fee is $45.00 from 7:00 – 8:30 a.m. at Long Beach Catholic Regional School in the gymnasium, located at 735 West Broadway, Long Beach. For additional information, please call 516-431-3890.

February Senior Calendar Now Available

Join us at the Magnolia Center Senior Center with exciting activities designed especially for our vibrant senior community! Our diverse programming includes engaging arts and crafts sessions, invigorating fitness classes, enlightening educational and tech talks, and enjoyable social events. Whether you're looking to acquire new skills, maintain an active lifestyle, or connect with fellow seniors, our schedule offers something for everyone.
