Welcome to the City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation Department's official webpage! We are happy to offer an array of recreational opportunities that cater to all ages and interests, ensuring there's something for everyone in the community. Whether you're looking to sign your child up for a recreation program, participate in adult leagues, get fit, join a dynamic Senior class or enjoy one of our special events, we have something for everyone. Our Recreation Campus features amenities such as a municipal pool, ice arena, turf fields, basketball courts, roller hockey rink, fishing pier, and a boat launch. With seven playgrounds scattered throughout the city, passive recreation is always within reach. Juneteenth_2025

Juneteenth Closings

In observance of Juneteenth, City Hall and the Magnolia Center will be closed on Friday, June 19th. The Recreation Center & Ice Arena will be open. LB Buses will run on a Holiday Schedule. There will be regular Residential and Commercial Sanitation pickup.
Additionally, Ocean Beach Park will be open, lifeguards are on duty from 9:00am-6:00pm following a holiday schedule.

Registration Now Open For 4th Of July Race

The Long Beach Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that registration for the Fabulous 4th of July 4K Race and Children's 1K Race is now underway. The race, in memory of Sgt. Sean Ryan of the Long Beach Police Department will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026 and is a great way to celebrate the start of a healthy summer. The 1K children's fun run will begin at 8:00 am and the 4K race will begin at 8:30 am.

Flag Day

The Joint Veterans Organization in cooperation with the City of Long Beach will hold a Flag Day Ceremony, Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 1:30pm. The ceremony takes place at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Magnolia Boulevard and West Bay Drive. All are encouraged to join Veterans and City officials as they pay tribute to and celebrate the American Flag and all it stands for.

 

Please bring your tattered, worn or unserviceable U.S. Flags for dignified disposal by burning.

Summer Camp

The City of Long Beach is happy to announce several options for Summer Camp. The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold their Summer Morning Camp Program and Afternoon Sports Camp Program, DayTrippers Full Day Camp and IncrediFlix Indoor camp. Please click here for more details.

Memorial Day Closings

In observance of Memorial Day, City Hall, the Magnolia Center, the Recreation Center and Ice Arena will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026. LB Buses will run on a Holiday Schedule. There will be regular Residential and Commercial Sanitation pickup.  ASP is suspended.
 
Please come out in your red, white and blue and pay tribute to our Veterans at the annual Memorial Day Parade which steps off at 10:00am from Ohio Avenue.

Memorial Day Parade

The Joint Veterans Organization and the City of Long Beach are happy to announce that the annual Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 25, 2026 and steps off from Ohio Avenue and West Beech Street at 10am.The parade will proceed to Park Avenue via New York Avenue and march to City Hall.  This year's Grand Marshal is Commander Gerald Haber of the American Legion.

Please come out and line the streets to honor and remember those who served and sacrificed for our country. If your organization is interested in marching please email, lbevents@longbeachny.gov.  This event is rain or shine.
