Park Ave Resilient Connectivity Project Phase II

Beginning Monday, March 11 expect lane closures and parking restrictions on East Park Avenue, from Long Beach Boulevard to Riverside Boulevard.  These closures are in order to facilitate the complete reconstruction and enhancement of the sidewalks along that stretch of Park Avenue.

The Long Beach Park Avenue Resilient Connectivity Project, is a Public Works project that will improve the safety and aesthetic of Park Avenue. The project includes, but is not limited to: the complete reconstruction of sidewalks, installation of new street lights and trees, and the resurfacing and restriping of Park Avenue between Long Beach and Riverside Boulevards. It is anticipated this project will serve as the template for future work on Park Avenue throughout the Central Business District..

City contractors are set to begin work on a comprehensive streetscape improvement project on East Park Avenue, from Long Beach Boulevard to Riverside Boulevard.  The project entails replacing existing sidewalks with decorative brick sidewalks and the installation of new colonial street lighting, benches, bike racks and tree plantings. Work on the north side of the block is expected to take approximately one month and necessitates the restriction of curbside parking and the closure of the northernmost westbound traffic lane the full length of the block. Delays are expected, so please plan accordingly.

Upon completion of the northern block, the contractor will commence work on the south side of the block. Similar parking restrictions and lane closures are anticipated. When all work is complete, the street will be milled, repaved and restriped.

Merchants and customers are encouraged to utilize the municipal lot at the corner of Long Beach Boulevard and East Walnut Street between the hours of 9am and 6pm throughout the life of this project. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we make these exciting enhancements to our central business district.
