NEW RACE FORMAT: BOARDWALK RUN

Exciting news for participants of this year's Beach Biathlon! After extensive planning and evaluation, we are happy to introduce a significant change to the adult race format: a Boardwalk Run. This new route will feature the running portion taking place on the boards; a transition area on the beach, that connects seamlessly with the Swim portion of the race. By eliminating those deep turns around the jetties, participants can look forward to a smoother, safer and more enjoyable experience.
Whether you’re a seasoned participant or a first-time racer, this event is the perfect opportunity to embrace fitness, fun, and the beach.  Don’t forget your sneakers!
The teen and children’s running portion of the race will remain on the shore.
 

The 45th Annual Biathlon will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 on Riverside Blvd. Children's race begins at 8:30am an adults' at 9:00 am. 

Adult competitors will run 3 miles on the boardwalk and swim 300 yards in the ocean. 

Children ages 7 – 12 there will be a half mile run on the shore with a 50 yard shallow swim.

Young teens ages 13 – 15 there will be a one mile run on the shore with a 150 yard swim.

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION: Early bird in-person registration through 7/17/25 by 4:00pm $35.00  (At the LB Recreation Center Lobby – 700 Magnolia Boulevard) (Checks payable to City of Long Beach & Visa/ MasterCard in person only). Day of Race $45.00 from 6:30 – 7:30am at Riverside Blvd and the beach. (Cash or check only).

AWARDS: Awards to the top five men and women in these age groups: 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. All children ages 7 – 15 receive awards.

CHECK-IN: Registration and check in 7:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. on Riverside Blvd. Beach. Children and Young Teens race begins at 8:30 a.m. Adult race begins at 9:00 a.m.

-All participants must wear sneakers on the boardwalk
-A transition area is provided for your gear
-Bathing caps will be provided

All participants will receive a t-shirt with a registration fee of $35 for all pre-race registrants and day of race registration is $45. You can mail your application to Long Beach Biathlon, Long Beach Recreation Department, 700 Magnolia Blvd, Long Beach, N.Y. 11561 or come in person to the front desk at the Recreation Department. Registration and check in is from 7:45 – 8:30am on TBA  and the beach.

The children and young teen race begins at 8:30am and the adult race begins at 9:00am. There will be Awards for the top 5 men and women in the following categories 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus. All children ages 7-15 will receive awards.
