We are looking for someone “great” to join City officials in lighting the Kennedy Plaza Christmas Tree on December 5. We want to know who has done great things for our community this year; whether it is a neighbor helping a neighbor, a teacher going the extra mile, someone serving in the military, or just someone or a group that deserves the recognition, we want to hear about them. All of the names submitted will be imprinted on ornaments to be placed on the Christmas Tree in Kennedy Plaza. The City Council will announce a nominee(s) to the crowd and together they will officially light the tree. This is a great opportunity during the holiday season to honor those people who make a difference in our city. Click here for details.
In observance of the holiday, City Hall, the Recreation Center, Ice Arena, and the Magnolia Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27. Long Beach buses will run on a holiday schedule and there will be NO Residential Sanitation pickup.
City Hall, the Recreation Center and Magnolia Center will remain closed through Friday, November 28, 2025. The Ice Arena will be open Friday.
