Welcome to the Parks and Recreation News section! We're happy to keep you informed about our community's  youth, adult and senior programs. Our youth programs focus on fostering creativity, teamwork, and physical fitness through various activities such as sports leagues, clinics, art and crafts classes and more. 

For our adult and senior community, we offer a range of programs designed to promote health, wellness, and social interaction. From fitness classes tailored for different levels to arts and crafts workshops and social gatherings, there’s something for everyone. We believe that staying active and connected is essential at any age, and our programs are here to support that.

We will also keep you updated on our races series and special events.

Season Beach Passes Go On Sale May 11th

Exciting news, beach lovers! Season beach passes for summer 2026 go on sale Monday, May 11th at 9:00am. 🎟️🏄‍♀️ Purchase your plastic seasonal passes at the Gazebo, located at 150 West Bay Drive (across from the Ice Arena).  Sale hours are weekdays from 9:00am-6:00pm and weekends & holidays from 9:00am-4:00pm. Starting May 23rd, the Beach Park Trailer will be open weekends only.

Prefer a hassle-free experience? Buy a Season Digital Pass online and have it delivered straight to your Yodel App wallet! 📲💳 Enjoy all summer long without the worry of losing it.

Marchers Sought for Memorial Day Parade

🎉 Calling All Community Groups! 🎉

The Long Beach Memorial Day Parade Committee invites you to join us in honoring our nation's heroes at the annual Memorial Day Parade! Mark your calendars for Monday, May 25, 2026, as we step off from Ohio Avenue and West Beech Street at 10 AM.

Whether your group wants to march, create a float, or simply show support, we’d love to have you be a part of this meaningful event. Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate together and pay tribute to those who have served.

Registration Open for Kids Bike Safety Rodeo

The City of Long Beach with the Kiwanis Club of Long Beach NY and Legislator Patrick Mullaney will host a Kids Bike Safety Rodeo on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The event will take place at the Recreation Campus basketball courts from 10:00am - 1:00pm. This event is for children ages 4 to 12. There will be two sessions: 10:00AM - 11:30AM and 11:30AM - 1:00PM.  Please choose one time. 

What a great way to start the summer season!! Bike rodeos teach children various bike safety skills by using simulated real-life situations. Children will be taught the fundamentals of bicycle safety and learn skills that will improve their cycling abilities in a fun safe environment. All children will receive bicycle safety information and a certificate of completion.

A limited number of helmets will be given away. In addition to the rodeo, there will be other fun activities, including tattoos, helmet decorating and bike raffles. In order to participate, you must come with a bicycle and bring your helmet. If you do not have a helmet, one will be provided while supplies last.

Group Swim Lesson Registration

Group Swim Lesson Registration for Long Beach School District Residents begins on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Registration for the general public opens on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Classes are filled on a first come-first-serve basis. Click here for an application or more information.

Spring Program Registration Now Open

Happy Spring!
The City of Long Beach Department of Parks and Recreation has been busy preparing our lineup of Spring Programs. Many of our applications with program descriptions are now available online.
 
Spring Program offerings include popular youth programs such as Running Club, Baseball & Softball Clinic, Volleyball, and Pickleball. In addition, Skudin Swim will be offering swim lessons. We also offer adult programs including Movement Through Water, and Men's and Women's Softball.
