CIVIL SERVICE AND BENEFITS OFFICE
The Long Beach Civil Service department is dedicated to providing excellent service to our City employees, the residents of Long Beach and the public at large, through quality assistance with employee benefits, and facilitating the employment process. The Long Beach Civil Service department provides detailed information regarding available civil service examinations and job postings, both in person and via the department’s web page. The department orders and administers examinations for the City of Long Beach, the Long Beach School District, the Long Beach Public Library and the Long Beach Housing Authority. Additionally, the department handles employee benefits for both active employees and retirees. Under the direction of the Long Beach Civil Service Commission, the department follows strict Civil Service Laws and Rules and is tasked with ensuring that the individuals the department serves understand and adhere to such regulations.
LONG BEACH CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
The Civil Service Commission of the City of Long Beach consists of three individuals, not more than two of whom shall at any time be adherents to the same political party as per law. The Civil Service department orders and administers examinations, both promotional and open competitive, for the City of Long Beach, the Long Beach School District, the Long Beach Public Library and the Long Beach Housing Authority. The Civil Service department also maintains personnel files for all of the listed agencies.

CITY OF LONG BEACH EMPLOYEES
