John became a member of the City Council in January of 2018.
John and his wife live in the West End. John is a nuclear engineer working on power and clean energy technologies. He is a veteran, having served six years in the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of SUNY Farmingdale, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School.
Prior to joining the City Council, he was very active in the Long Beach community. He was a regular attendee and speaker at City Council meetings and did an extensive amoun tof volunteer work to help better our community, including:
President of the West End Neighbors Civic Association.
Founder of Long Beach Movie Nights (movies on the beach).
Worked to get the West End Library branch reopened after Superstorm Sandy.
Member of the Long Beach Community Advisory Committee, providing input and guidance for updating the Long Beach Comprehensive and Revitalization Plan.
Member of the NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program Committee, a state committee that was tasked with creating redevelopment and resiliency plans for Long Beach, including allocating funding, after Superstorm Sandy.
Member of an advisory committee to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce that advises the Secretary on the development and administration of programs and policies to expand exports of U.S.products and services.
