Brendan Finn
Brendan Finn arrived in Long Beach when his parents moved the family out of Manhattan in 1962. He and his sister, Nonie, enjoyed all the resources of this great city which included Long Beach Catholic School, St. Ignatius Martyr Church, the Long Beach Recreation Center, and the CYO sports programs. And of course, the beach and bay. As a graduate of Xavier High School and Fordham University, Brendan received a stellar Jesuit education supplemented partially by a summer job at Monarch Beverage, where he continued to work until joining the NYPD in 1984. The highlights of his twenty year career included investigative work in the Federal Joint Firearms Task Force and the Joint FBI/NYPD Terrorism Task Force as a detective taking guns off the streets of New York and testifying in successful Federal terrorism trials. Brendan is also a thirty-six year member of the NYPD Pipes and Drums who proudly marched in two presidential inaugural parades. After earning a master’s degree in history from Queens College, Brendan taught as an adjunct lecturer for seventeen years at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and also worked as a private investigator and security consultant. He is married to Patty and is the father of Denis and Vlad, who were adopted from Ukraine in 2007 and have enjoyed all the great things America, and Long Beach have to offer. “Happily ever after” may not always happen, but living in Long Beach is a good start. We are living the good life.
