RECREATION CODE OF CODUCT

PARTICIPANTS

1- No swearing or abusive language on the field, rink, court, or at any team functions.

2- No lashing out at any official no matter what the call is. The coaching staff will handle all matters pertaining to officiating.

3- Fighting will not be tolerated. Fighting will result in an appearance before a Discipline Committee and may result in expulsion from the league.

4- There will be no alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco permitted on Recreation property or at any team functions.

5- You will conduct yourself in a befitting manner at all facilities during team functions.

6- Any player, coach or team official who cannot abide by the Rules and Regulations set forth by the Long Beach Recreation Department will be subject to further disciplinary action.

 

PARENTS

1- Do not force your child to participate in sports. Children are involved in organized sports for enjoyment. MAKE IT FUN!

2- Encourage your child to play by the rules.

3- Do not embarrass your child by yelling at players, coaches or officials.

4- Emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit your young athlete.

5- Know the rules of the particular sport your child is playing.

6- Never yell or physically abuse your child after a game or practice. It is everyone’s responsibility to help remove physical and verbal abuse in youth sports.

7- Recognize the importance of volunteer coaches. They are important to the development of your child. Communicate with them and support them.

8- Emphasize attendance and punctuality for all practices and games. Notify the coach when it is necessary to miss a practice or a game.

 

SPECTATORS

1- Display good sportsmanship. Always respect players, coaches and officials.

2- Act appropriately: do not taunt or disturb other fans. Enjoy the game.

3- Do not use profanities. Offensive and abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

4- Cheer for good plays from ALL participants.

5- Help provide a safe and fun environment.

6- Support the referees and coaches by trusting their judgment and integrity.

7- Be responsible for your own safety and remain alert to help prevent accidents.

8- Be supportive after the game, win or lose. Recognize good effort, teamwork and sportsmanship.
