Executive Order 203 Police Reform

The City of Long Beach is committed to gathering input from residents regarding ways to strengthen the Long Beach Police Department’s community policing model. Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 'New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative' Executive Order 203 requires the Long Beach City Council to approve a plan filed by the City Manager no later than April 1, 2021 in order maintain the City’s eligibility for future state funding.  The attached Police Reform Plan was developed in collaboration with a team of community stakeholders and residents of the City to help ensure the police department addressed community concerns and further to help build a vision for what the police department will look like into the future.  A tremendous amount of time and effort went into creating a plan that addresses and fits the needs of the unique communities that make up the City of Long Beach.

City residents are encouraged to read through the document and its exhibits and email their feedback to policereform@lbpd.com .
